Toshiba Electronics Europe GmbH has unveiled the TLX9152M, an automotive-compliant photorelay designed for 400V battery control systems in electric vehicles (EVs). This innovative component enables car manufacturers to replace mechanical relays, enhancing high-voltage isolation and facilitating battery management system (BMS) monitoring.
Key Features
- High Voltage Capability:
· Minimum output withstand voltage (VOFF) of 900V, suitable for battery and fuel-cell control applications.
· Allows for monitoring voltages, detecting mechanical relay sticking, and identifying ground faults.
- Fast Reaction Time:
· TON/TOFF time of 1ms (max), critical for responsive design.
- Low Power Consumption:
· Trigger current of just 3mA (max) and off-state current (IOFF) of 100nA (max) at ambient temperature ensure minimal power draw when inactive.
· IR LED forward current (IF) of 20mA (max) and photodetection element on-state current (ION) of 50mA.
- Test Voltage Requirements:
For a 400V automotive battery, the withstand voltage test (Hi-Pot test) is set at 1800V. Using two TLX9152M units can achieve this output withstand voltage.
